My Background with Alibre 3D CAD & Modeling...

I now offer small scale 3D/2D mechanical design work services using Alibre 3D CAD. I have been working with Alibre heavily the past couple of years and have found this to be an excellent tool with very powerful 3D capabilities for those on a limited budget. Alibre brings high-end 3D CAD capabilities to small scale designers in need of 3D CAD features. The drawings and 3D images provided here were all created in Alibre and illustrate some of the basic mechanical design work I now offer.

Sheet Metal Design & Fabrication

I specialize in small sheet metal enclosure design, primarily for electronic type enclosures and smaller metal work assemblies. Many customers need to integrate printed circuit boards with custom sheet metal enclosures that require precision design features and tolerances. Typically this type of work requires specialized laser cutting equipment and programming. We work with PCI ProCoaters Inc locally for nearly all of our metal fabrication services and find they deliver excellent craftsmanship and work. We've maintained a close working relationship with PCI over the years and highly recommend their services.

2D Mechanical Drawings

Sheet metal jobs require 2D drawings along with the CAD files needed for flat metal cutting operations. Typically DXF files are provided which are used to create the tool or cutting path programming data needed by the laser or other cutting equipment. Plastic injection mold parts typically require IGES or other 3D image formats needed to produce the actual mold from. The 2D fabrication drawing serve as a reference check against the CAD programming data. Most fabrication contractors will require 2D drawings along with DXF data in order to fabricate your assembly or parts.

Silkscreen Faceplate/Artwork Services

For silkscreen artwork I typically use Adobe Illustrator. In some cases I use AutoCAD to import faceplate drawings in DXF format.

Documentation Services

I also provide documentation services for owners manuals, user guides etc. Below are some owners manual documentation examples. I typically work in MS-Word and use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for documentation projects.
